Energy Playshop with Asha Wolf!

 Asha Wolf

Asha Wolf

Let's come together for a few hours and explore energy! Yes, energy- that force that we may not be able to see or define, but that we can certainly feel! We might call it a vibe, or good juju, prana or qi. In this playshop we will explore fun ways to feel this energy, and then connect, build, channel, move and transform it! As we open ourselves up to sensing and feeling energy, we end up tapping into another dimension- a dimension that is always there and one that we can choose to be aware of at any time.

In this fun exploration, we will use very simple exercises that everyone can do. These easy techniques will invite all of us to experience our subtle energy body and the subtle energy fields in and around us.

Intrigued? If you are the least bit curious...come play with us!!

Register on-line through The Hidden Yoga Studio.

Wine +Cheese Fundraiser for NARAL and our local family health clinics! Tuesday, 7-8:30pm at Kitty's house

wineandcheese

Hi Yogis!
I'm holding a fundraiser for NARAL and some of our local family health clinics at my house Tuesday, July 10th from 7-8:30pm.

Women's health is currently in crisis here in the US and right here in our community fake health clinics are popping up and lying to patients about their religious purpose and about the women's conditions.
The parents in our community will be distressed to know that the same people who are running the fake clinics are the people who bring "Self-Esteem" workshops into our local junior and senior high schools and ask the kids to do role playing. In Erie recently, a 13-year-old girl was asked to role play a girl who got pregnant, had an abortion and then her boyfriend commits suicide over the abortion. Yes. You read that correctly. I can't begin to address all the things that are wrong there.
Legislation has passed in several states already making it legal for doctors to lie to women patients and to withhold information even when asked directly for it. The current administration is trying to defund any family health clinic (Including those who don't offer abortion services) that gives women information about abortion when asked for it. Yes, they are attempting to make it illegal for women to receive medical information.

It is now legal in many states for a pharmacist to refuse to fill your prescription for birth control on religious grounds. Birth control.
Please join us for a night of straight talk, facts, fundraising and copious amounts of chardonnay!  Find out how you can help keep the future of women's health and women's rights safe and secure in our community!

If you would like to attend, the address is 2three21 Watersong Circle, Longmont.
Please email or call me at 303-709-6243 with any questions.
Peace!
Kitty

Tales of Wisdom - Classic Yoga Texts in Practice! with Sandra Anderson of the Himalayan Institute!

 Sandra Anderson

Sandra Anderson

Sandra Anderson is back, and she's bringing the light all the way from The Himalayan Institute in PA to The Hidden Yoga Studio in Niwot this month with an awesome 2 day workshop:

Tales of Wisdom:
Classic Yoga Texts in Practice with Sandra Anderson

Join us for a playful exploration of quintessential sources for yoga, reinterpreted for modern life and practice. Explore selected stories from the Sri Mad Bhagavatam and the Durga Saptashati, and theory and practice from the Hatha Yoga Pradipika.
In the diverse canonical literature of yoga we meet shape-shifting gods, animals with divine powers, multi-armed, many-faced humans, and demonic forces that conquer heaven and earth. We're invited to ponder terrible, earth-shattering wars; and an ocean churned to spawn a fiery poison as well as the elixir of immortality. There are curses, boons, sacrifices, man-lions, enormous many-headed serpents, wish-fulfilling gems, and pleasure palaces. Are these stories merely entertaining--ancient versions of Star Wars and Harry Potter? Or are there hidden depths of meaning and revelation? What can we learn about how to conduct our yoga practice, heal our minds, and live meaningful and fulfilling lives?

We'll use recent studies of the mind and nervous system to help us understand the problems posed by the stories in these texts, and how yoga practice is designed to resolve internal conflicts and turmoil. Each session includes discussion and asana, pranayama, meditation and other practices drawn from these texts.

Saturday Morning Session (9:00-1:00)
Hatha Yoga Pradipika
The Hatha Yoga Pradipika is a tantric text focusing on asana, pranayama, and esoteric practices that work with the life force of the body. Along with the oral tradition, this text reveals the potential and the intention in working with prana shakti and the body. This session includes discussion and practice of asana, pranayama, bandhas, and specific practices drawn from the text.

Saturday Afternoon Session (2:30-5:30)
Churning the Ocean: An Allegory for the Spiritual Journey from the Srimad Bhagavatam
It turns out spiritual practice isn't always a smooth road, anymore than life itself. Explore how we must unite the forces of darkness and light to accomplish our deepest desire for bhoga (experiences) and apavarga (freedom). Learn how to churn the forces of light and dark in our own bodies, what stability really means, why it's so important, and how to find strength and balance in body, breath, and mind.
Enjoy discussion, breathing practices, and yoga meditation.

Sunday (9:00-2pm with hour lunch break)
Hatha Yoga Pradipika and Durga Saptashati: Mastering Our Inner Demons
Study and practice of the Hatha Yoga Pradipika continues with asana, mudras, pranayama, and a look at the more esoteric sections of this tantric text. Another tantric text, the Durga Saptashati, tells the story of the divine mother Durga, and how she defeats the blind forces of arrogant egoism, fear, greed, and anger to find fulfillment and freedom in our lives. Durga rules the navel center, the manipura chakra, pointing us in the direction of practices which awaken the full powers of self-mastery and integration of intelligence and instinct. Enjoy discussion, practices for the navel center, and meditation.

Saturday + Sunday: $165, early bird by 6/15 $145
Saturday: $85 early bird $80
Sunday: $85  early bird $80

Mindfulness 4-Week Free course with Peter Hall!

justbreathe2.jpg

What is Mindfulness? Come find out!

Peter Hall will be offering a FREE 4-week course in Mindfulness during the month of June! Join Peter on Tuesday nights, 7:45-8:45pm June 5-26th, for an exploration of Mindfulness and Mindfulness Meditation.

Here's some info about the course:
What is Mindfulness? Discussion Series:
In this series of 4 x 1 hour conversations, we'll explore Mindfulness, what it is and how to use it in everyday life. You might also have seen this referred to as Self-Awareness or Consciousness.
These discussions will show how a different approach to thinking can reward us with a greater understanding of how we think and how we feel. We'll learn that we can control much more of what's going on in our minds than we may currently believe. Generally, we've been taught What to think but not How to think.

Each conversation builds on the previous one, providing tools and techniques for stepping out of your thoughts to better understand the Real You.

Topics include:

  • Self-awareness - the Observer
  • Positive thoughts versus No thoughts
  • What is Meditation?
  • Resetting the mind
  • Easily solving problems
  • Being Happy
  • Having a feeling of Inner Peace
  • Accepting what is
  • What's the point of all this?

Who should attend?
Anyone interested in self-improvement, clearer thinking and a deeper understanding of how the mind works. This subject matter continues to evolve with you.

Outcomes:
The tools introduced will, if used in a consistent way, assist in reducing stress and increasing mind and body awareness, leading to health and wellness improvements, as well as prioritizing and simplifying different aspects of your life. I've experienced these benefits myself.

Peter Hall.jpg

I'm Peter Hall and I've been interested in the functioning of my mind for many years. About 3 years ago, I had a bit of an insight. Why was it that, no matter how hard I tried and what I learned, there was always something not quite right about the way I saw the world, or my life, or my purpose, or maybe any number of other things?
This insight has led me down a path of unfolding ideas and concepts that I had previously heard of but had never truly grasped. Yoga and Meditation help me to continue on this path, as well as many personal development authors, bloggers and others.
The general term for it is Mindfulness and, as my own path becomes clearer, I'm finding I desire to help others answer the question: What is Mindfulness?

Call me for any questions.

Cleanse Cooking Class!

foodandveggie.jpg

Oh, the Holidays are rough on our poor little guts!
So much rich food, so much sugar and alcohol!
So much stress and travel.
Need a Detox?
Me too, and I've got just the thing!

The Big Spring Ayurvedic Cleanse!

I'll be holding an Ayurvedic Cooking Class at my house this week on Thursday night February 15th, 6-8pm. You'll learn how to cook some of the tasty food you'll be eating on the cleanse and get recipes for many more. This cooking night is a fun way to be introduced to cleansing, and even if you've cleansed before it's fun to learn how to cook and share some yummy food and wine (It's pre-cleanse, after all!) with your yogi friends!

Why Cleanse? Cleansing makes you feel brighter, lighter and healthier after the heavy (and delicious) winter foods of the Holiday Season. The Colorado Cleanse is an Ayurvedic Cleanse that's designed to reset your digestion and get the winter junk out of the system! This is not a juice cleanse or a starvation cleanse. This is a healthy and yummy cleanse with whole foods and Ayurvedic herbs suited to your individual needs. This is a happy cleanse! We don't want you losing your joy, but we do want you to lose some of that stress belly fat and some of those not so helpful cravings.

The cost for the Cooking Class is $10, (just for food costs).

We'll be doing the cleanse as a group from Feb. 21st-March 6th, but you can do the cleanse anytime you want if that doesn't work for you.

Be sure to sign up in advance for the Cooking Class so I'll buy enough food!
See you on Thursday night, and bring an appetite!

Kitty
